Kansas has introduced SEMA-supported legislation that ensures consumers have the right to choose their vehicle and fuel by preventing a state agency, country, or city from limting access to internal combustion engines (ICE). The resolution was passed in 2023, but this year's bill will codify this into law.
The House Federal & State Affairs Committee recently held a hearing for the House's version of the bill (H.B. 2783). Among several groups that testified in support of the proposal was SEMA. The bill now awaits a committee vote.
SEMA believes that Kansas citizens, not the government, should decide what vehicles are best for them and their families. The Senate's version fo the bill (SB 471) awaits consideration by the Committee on Federal and State Affairs.
